Welcome to M36 Coffee Roasters

M36 Coffee Roasters is a Michigan coffee company dedicated to the pursuit of the roast. Our roots go back to the late eighties when we learned the art of the café from Espresso Royale. These folks were inspired by the styles and traditions of crowded and bustling Italian cafes and the early American pioneers like Peet’s and Café Trieste.

It was always our dream to roast for ourselves, and in 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic shutdown the Espresso Royale company, we bought the roasting business and became “Covid babies”. Here we oversee the process from crop to cup, making sure every roast is what we’d want to drink at home. Whether you’re a total coffee nerd—or just want a simple, honest cup—our blends and single-origins are sure to please!

Why Do We Roast Coffee?

Why do we roast coffee? Because we love it, just like you do. The anticipation of that first morning sip, driving to work, walking to class or relaxing on your couch. You can have an extra jolt in the afternoon to keep up your energy, drink it with your favorite dessert, or have one last evening cup “just because” you like it so much. Whatever your thing is, happiness is in your hands. Whatever your reasons, they are good ones.

True to the Bean

The two things that we believe above all else are the quality of the raw coffee beans we purchase and the science behind the ways in which they are processed and brewed. We have always been committed to creating the highest quality coffees by using responsibly sourced beans from around the world. We treat our coffee beans with respect for the farmers and communities who grow them. We peak-roast in small batches to bring out the best flavor of the beans. Where art and science collide, we test and taste every batch for quality.

Community Partnership

At M-36 Coffee Roasters, we believe in making a commitment to the communities where we do business. As members of the community, we know there are many people who need help in various ways and we feel we have a responsibility to help however we can.  By supporting nonprofit organizations and programs that are important to our local communities, we can keep a long-term focus on improving life experiences. Check out our fundraiser program to assist organizations in reaching their goals financially.

We are partnered with the Michigan State Parks and donate a portion of each State Park Coffee bag sold to youth education programs in the parks and schools.
